Fall Off<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019m coming out \nof my old church. It\u2019s 12:15.\nSoon I\u2019ll toss off my bow tie \nand go out and play. I feel guilty \nthat I hate church--I hope \nGod understands that play \nis more fun than worship.  \nDoesn\u2019t God get enough worship?  \nEven my dad at the factory \ngets a couple of breaks each day.  \n\nThat heavy red hymnal, how I wish \nit were the Mamas and the Papas.  \nI\u2019d sing \u201cStrange Young Girls\u201d \nwith Mama Cass who \nI\u2019ve never met but adore. It\u2019s easy \nto adore from afar. I don\u2019t know \nany strange young girls. The ones \nI know seem pretty normal.  \nLori likes Barbie and has the dream \nhouse. I pretend I\u2019m Ken \nwhen we play\u2014a handsome surfer, \nnot a boy who can\u2019t multiply.  \nMonday beats up Sunday. School.  \n\nHow do we know the Earth is round?  \nI don\u2019t know. I\u2019m ten \nand feel that I could easily fall off of it.\n\n<\/pre>\n\n\n\n

Kenneth Pobo<\/strong> has a new book out from Duck Lake Books called Dindi Expecting Snow<\/em>.  He won the 2019 chapbook contest from the Poetry Society of Alabama for Your Place Or Mine<\/em>.  They will be publishing it next year. His work has been published in or forthcoming in: North Dakota Quarterly<\/em>, Atlanta Review<\/em>, Nimrod<\/em>, Hawaii Review<\/em>, Illuminations<\/em>, and elsewhere.<\/p>
