Spring in evanston<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
 \n\n In Evanston, spring is a season when light is long;\n Lanceleaf Coreopsis blooms April through June.\n Butterfly weed hosts the Monarch butterflies,\n who return to lay eggs upon the plant;\n the cardinal flower entices hummingbirds\n to lap nectar from its long tubular neck.\n  \n April in Evanston beckons the memories\n of a different city, of an erstwhile life\n when I was petal-open and visited by bees.\n The alight and flitter dances of butterflies\n remind me of a place before love, \n a time when I was light itself, and\n aglow with possibility.\n  \n Spring wafts like a feather brushing my cheek,\n and, like Monarchs and perennials,\n it reciprocates--\n giving life and\n solace.\n   \n\n<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
